After graduation, Leah worked as the Event Planner and the Hospitality Services Manager at Messina Hof Winery and Resort in Bryan, TX where she oversaw the event center, bed and breakfast, retail center and restaurant for the winery. She began working with Merrill Bonarrigo to understand food and wine pairing. The winemaker, Paul Bonarrigo, suggested that she enroll in a program to understand winemaking to go along with what she was learning about food from Merrill and the restaurant chefs. After completing the wine educator program through the Society of Wine Educators, she moved to New York City to complete her sommelier certificate through self-study. While in NYC she spent a lot of time learning from the chefs and sommeliers at the Windows on the World Wine School in the World Trade Center. She then moved to California where she worked as the Hospitality Coordinator for Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery in Healdsburg for 6 years. Always having had the itch to own her own business, Leah moved to Paso Robles, CA to consult with vineyards and restaurants on the development of their wine lists, service staff and wine clubs. It’s there where in 2007 she met her husband, Patrick. They decided to move to Texas to start a family. It was while she was working as the Director of Sales at the Inn of the Hills Resort and Conference Center in Kerrville, TX that she was recruited by a State Farm recruiter to be a State Farm agent. In May 2012 Leah took over a struggling book of business for State Farm in Killeen, TX. Leah, her husband, her three children and her four pets live in Harker Heights.
